COLLINGWOOD may have unveiled another mature-age rookie in the making after former Sandringham forward Matthew Boland kicked six goals to be the match-winner in a seven-point win over the Northern Blues yesterday.
Boland, who played his first game for the Pies' VFL team yesterday, marked strongly and impressed from the outset with four goals in the first half at Preston City Oval.
The Magpies have more recently produced Tom Couch, who is now a mature-age rookie on Melbourne's list, and also Liam Jurrah.
Advertisement: Story continues below Pies VFL coach Tarkyn Lockyer praised Boland for his performance yesterday, suggesting the 21-year-old has a bright future.
