IT took the second tallest man on Carlton's list to finally end North Ballarat Roosters' reign, with Shaun Hampson leading the Northern Bullants to a come-from-behind win.
The ruckman stretched the Roosters' defence for size but not character, as a gutsy North Ballarat twice led by healthy margins before being bundled out in straight sets yesterday after winning three-straight premierships.
Hampson's third of four final-quarter goals restored the Bullants' lead after they trailed by 15 points at the final break and 28 points at the first change.
Carlton development coach Darren Harris praised Hampson's spirit after an injury-interrupted season and said his ruckwork in the third quarter was pivotal to the Ants' first revival.
