THE AFL's team in waiting, Gold Coast, faces a mid-winter assignment in Ballarat in its debut Victorian Football League season next year.
VFL reigning premier North Ballarat will tackle Gold Coast at Eureka Stadium on Saturday, July 10.
This will be the only time the Selkirk Roosters meet Gold Coast, with a request to play in Queensland denied by AFL Victoria.

North Ballarat football manager Marg Richards said the Roosters had been eager to venture into what was new territory for the competition.
North Ballarat has also been denied an opportunity to play another home game at Stawell.
