WILLIAMSTOWN might have been crowned minor premiers but it has drawn the shortest straw of all 16 clubs competing in this year's inaugural Champions League.
As revealed by Leader last month, the AFL has confirmed the Seagulls will travel to Perth to tackle Western Australia Football League powerhouse Swan Districts in Round 1 of the knockout competition dubbed the Foxtel Cup.
The April 9 clash at the newly named Patersons Stadium is a curtain-raiser to West Coast's AFL encounter with the Sydney Swans.
Williamstown was sent packing in last year's preliminary final and entered the tournament as the VFL's third-ranked side, behind premier North Ballarat and runner-up Northern Bullants.
