EVERGREEN forward James Podsiadly booted seven goals to lead Geelong's VFL side to a 70-point victory against Frankston on Saturday.

Small forward Jarrod Westwood also had a day to remember at Skilled Stadium, kicking four majors as the Cats triumphed 21.13 (139) to 10.9 (69).

Cats coach Dale Amos was rapt for Podsiadly but could not be more pleased with his former South Barwon pupil after injuries to a host of AFL listed players provided the youngster with an opportunity for regular VFL appearances.

"Westwood has probably shown the benefit of being able to play a few weeks in a row. He's that small forward we've missed a bit," Amos said.

"Adam Varcoe has missed a couple of weeks, Steve Motlop is a few weeks away, so he's been good for us. One upside of having injuries to our AFL list is that the VFL top up players have had an opportunity."

Amos was also pleased with senior hopefuls Simon Hogan, Trent West and Adam Donohue.
