Tough ask for Scorps against 'Ants

THE good news is Casey is still alive despite Sunday's 32-point qualifying final loss at the hands of dual premier North Ballarat.

The bad is that a cut-throat final awaits on the back of a six-day break and against a Northern Bullants side oozing Carlton stars.

The worse news is Melbourne trio Matthew Warnock, Matthew Bate and Jamie Bennell have all failed to qualify for the rest of VFL finals.

Warnock has held the Casey defence together in the past few weeks and if it wasn't for his 24-disposal performance on Sunday the Roosters' four-goal lead at the main break would have doubled.

Lovell, the development coach at Sandy's VFL partner St Kilda, is returning to Perth.

He coached Sandringham for three years and is completing his second season with the Saints.

The Zebras fell apart after Round 4 this year, losing 11 of their last 14 games to miss the finals for the third consecutive year.
