Body:
Port Melbourne travel down to Geelong for Sundays match against the Cats, as a curtain-raiser before the Geelong v North Melbourne match.
The AFL game starts at 2:10 PM, but the VFL match starts at the ridiculously early time of 10:30 AM. Why??
This early start means that the game could be all over almost an hour before the start of the AFL match.
If they are going to bother scheduling games as curtain-raisers (which I am no fan of), why play the game so early, that the majority of the crowd will not see it, as they will be entering the ground after the VFL match.
If Geelong want to play the early game, why not start it at a more reasonable time like 11:20 am? If the game is planned to end so early, is it merely to give the AFL clubs a chance to warm up on the ground? If so, why not start the game later, and allow them to warm up at 3/4 time?
Stupid fixturing IMO. It makes for an early start to drive down to Geelong, with the match followed by an hour of bugger-all if we bother to hang around to watch the AFL match. I realise that we are getting in for $5, but I think the competition, and the clubs need to be treated with a little more respect.
