I agree with Saade Ghazi's article in Inside Football of 14 September.
I doubt whether old VFA rivalries could ever be rekindled. The renaming to VFL and then the ever-changing alignments would have put paid to that.
Also, like the current VFL, any seperate/stand alone competition would also lack any media coverage, so would struggle to regain supporters, let alone sponsors.
