BRAD Moran is poised to reach a significant point in his short career in the coming weeks, but it won't be his AFL debut.
The 18-year-old Kangaroos player is on track to make his senior VFL debut with Port Melbourne, which will be a remarkable achievement given the journey he has taken.
Eighteen months ago the Moran family, unable to tolerate the bleak winters of England's Stratford-upon-Avon, sought a more temperate climate for Brad to continue his fledgling rugby career and moved to Queensland's sunny Gold Coast.
Moran warmed to the Sunshine State and rugby stronghold, but became attracted to Australian rules.
After being spotted by the AFL's rookie search program, a reserves premiership with Southport and selection for Queensland in last year's national under-18 championships soon followed.
Then he was selected by the Kangaroos with pick No. 58 at the 2004 national draft.
The 200cm, 88kg big man has since impressed all at Arden Street with his efforts in the Port reserves side.[/quote]
