BRENDAN Fevola has issued an open invitation to VFL clubs to contact him about playing this season.
Fevola, who was sacked by the Brisbane Lions nine days ago, just Tweeted: "Hey guys thanks for all the support. Decided to give footy one more crack. Any VFL clubs who want to talk please contact Velocity Sports."
Melbourne's VFL affiliate Casey Scorpions has already made contact with Fevola's management in a move which has concerned the Demons.
Publicly, the Dees say they are yet to hold formal talks on their VFL club's controversial target, but privately they have made it clear they are not overly keen on being linked to the former Brisbane Lions and Carlton star.
Fevola's manager Alastair Lynch yesterday told the Herald Sun no decisions had been made.
"There's been a lot of interest so we're just going to get it all together, put it in front of him and see what's possible, what isn't possible and what he wants to do," Lynch said.
"We've got to weigh it all up. It might not even be that quick in terms of getting an answer, but that's got to be the first discussion, the first time we sit down together.
"I've had calls and I think even he's had calls.
"(Football) is something he really wants to do, but what sort of role that's going to play and where we're not sure yet."
Casey has been encouraged by the fact Melbourne president Jim Stynes is the founder of Reach, an organisation that promotes mental health and wellbeing.
But any goodwill from Melbourne has likely been killed off after it witnessed first-hand Fevola's erratic alcohol-fuelled behaviour on a pre-season tour to Shanghai with the Lions in October.
Fevola, who was said to be in party mode on the trip, was ejected from a nightclub and failed to show for a morning team meeting.
Rumours continue to circulate about more serious indiscretions in the Chinese city.
Melbourne football manager Chris Connolly said the Demons were yet to talk about Fevola and he wasn't sure if they would.
"We would expect when it comes to decisions made on playing personnel, the opinions of the Melbourne Football Club would be taken into regard," he said.
