Very tough effort from the Bullants to get away with the points at Sandringham. In what shaped as the biggest home and away game the Bullants have played in modern times, the Bullants held on from a fast finishing Sandrigham to win by three points.
Played in the most part in drizzing rain, the game was as tough a contest that you will see at VFL level. The Bullants made good use of the breeze early with Callum Chambers [1 goal] and Digby Morrell [2 Goals] providing moving and marking targets up-forward. Often maligned, Chambers played his best game in Bullants colours while Morrell is starting to impose himself on games.
While the Bullants did out-score Sandringham in the third term, the Zebra's two goals [the only goals scored against the breeze all day] kept them within striking distance come the last quarter.
With only one game in three weeks the Bullants midfield, apart from Ryan Jackson, did run out of legs late. Sandringham had chances to win the game but were held up by strong marking efforts from David Teague and Anthony Franchina.
Going forward the Bullants have alot of scope for improvement as F.Raso, J.Vansittart, R.Young and A.Franchina have all missed alot of football and will be better for the run. N.Fallu didn't play and barring injury the Carlton list will be stronger come finals.
