Body:
Champion Midfielder Steve Harrison won a record breaking 5th Gardner-Clark Medal (b&f) to prove he is back to his best despite a couple of injury interupted seasons. Harrison was weighing up his playing future this time last year with the arrival of a young one and perhaps a shift in priorities but his desicion to continue playing was well justified.
Harrison started the season in fine form, amassing 50 Votes by round 10.
He was able to hold off his fast finishing best mate in Nigel Carmody who came from about 20 votes down to finish second by around about 5 votes.
For Carmody it was another fantastic season for the first year Captain and he will be severely unlucky not to claim a 1st finish before his playing days are over (2nd last 2 years by 2 and 5 Votes).
Mathews finished not too far behind 3rd.
For the reserves it was Peter Mercoulia who took it from (I think) Pat Mc Grath on abot 40 votes to 36 (or there abouts) Mercoulia who was in and out of the senior line up at stages this season only played around 12 games in 2's.
Stefan Garruba took out best first year player. I didn't realise the kid is only 20 years old.
