Geelong (22.21.153) defeated the Casey Scorpions (11.6.72) at Casey Fields on Saturday.

Casey have performed inconsistently so far this season and went into the clash against Geelong needing to record a win in order to set themselves up to play a greater level of consistent and determined football in the coming weeks.

The Cats played a much cleaner and less error riddled brand of football compared to the Scorpions, who were unable to stop the powerful forward line led by Shannon Byrnes who dominated inside attacking fifty.

Byrnes kicked five goals in a best on ground performance for the Cats.



The Box Hill Hawks (13.17.95) defeated Tasmania (12.10.82) at Bellerive Oval.

Box Hill tasted victory for the first time this season against a Tasmanian outfit that is struggling to avoid fading out too early during a match and is having trouble trying to climb up the ladder.

Jason Cook kicked three goals and midfielder Kristian Height was best on ground for the Hawks.

Williamstown (15.15.105) defeated the Bendigo Bombers (14.18.102) at Burbank Oval on Sunday.

Williamstown recorded a thrilling three point win over the Bendigo Bombers and both sides would be confident in the coming weeks knowing that they can play out a full game rather than fade out in the last quarter.

Patrick Rose kicked four goals and Kane McKenzie was best on ground for the Seagulls.

Sandringham (14.8.92) defeated Frankston (10.8.68) at Frankston City Oval.

Many had tipped Frankston to defeat Sandringham due to the excellent start that they have had to this season, but it wasn’t to be as the Zebras were simply too good against a side determind to play well against the defending premiers.

Michael Newton continued his good form kicking five goals, with Chris Lamb best for the Zebras.

Werribee (26.14.170) defeated North Ballarat (10.10.70) at Austar Arena.

Werribee tasted victory for the first time in 2007 against a North Ballarat outfit that has not been consistent in any of the games it has played so far this season.

The Roosters were completely outclassed in all departments by a Werribee side led by a strong midfield featuring Dominic Gleeson and Western Bulldogs listed youngster Jarrod Harbrow.

James Podsiadly kicked six goals and exciting midfielder Gleeson was best on ground for the Tigers.

Port Melbourne (15.12.102) defeated the Northern Bullants (10.8.68) at NAB Oval.

Port Melbourne continues to stake its claim for a finals berth this year and their win over the Bullants further suggests that they can perform well against aligned sides after struggling for much of last season.

Matthew Smith kicked four goals, with John Baird named best on ground for the Borough.

The Coburg Tigers had a bye this week.
