VFL R8 - Sandringham v Port Melbourne
Body:

Great to see Nash Holmes back in the Port side. I love getting down to Sandy, especially in good weather. Hunter back into the side is a big boost as a tall marking forward too.

The clubs are again playing for the Tony Scully Cup, named in honour of the Victoria Police Sergeant who received burns along with fellow police officers Emma Quick and Varli Blake who all received burns after an explosion when responding to welfare check.

Have you got the Sandringham team selection handy Billy? I couldn't find it.

I reckon Port's line up with Hunter as a sizeable / big bodied forward and Homes back in the middle will add a bit to Port's lineup.  I prefer to see Hoops playing in the midfield, but figure with Holmes in, they might have Hooper running off half-back.

Well it was a pretty ordinary result for the Borough. I went into this game with some real confidence that we were going to setup our season with this and the Swnas next week as must win games if we were to play finals footy.

I haven't reviewed the stats, but I believe Port won enough of the footy and had enough inside 50 entries that we could have got a hell of a lot closer than we did. Forward entry, and pressure around the ball cost us, along with a few critical errors in the backline.

Sydney next week for the Borough now looms as a real danger game under lights.

Sandringham remains one of my favourite grounds, however it is another oval that has interchange benches so high that it is difficult to see over/around them. Surely that's something that can be fixed.. Port Melbourne Cricket Ground / ETU Stadium has the same issue.

The weather was a real treat and probably the biggest positive for the day.

I thought crowd numbers were very poor. I suppose both teams not exactly flying and Mother's day may have impacted on people coming through the turnstiles.

Sorry North Port but it looks like I put the mozz on the Borough but that is the nature of this bastadized competition.esp the alinged teams.

As far as the crowd goes that would have to the worst for a Port V Sandy match on a fine day in living memory.
