Coburg vs Sandringham - 26/07 - 1:05pm - Barry Plant Park

BYE: Port Melbourne, Werribee, Williamstown, Tasmania

A lot of crucial games going into the last few rounds of the season. Carlton, Essendon, and North Melbourne will all be looking to keep their finals hopes alive while Frankston and Coburg will strength their positions inside the top 10 if they win. Sydney and GWS currently sit in 4th and 5th place, respectively, so their game should be a competitive one.

All those teams with the bye will be looking on with great interest to see where they might be placed prior to Round 19..

Agree both Coburg and Frankston well placed to notch up wins.

On a side note.. can someone tell me why Collingwood are playing home games at La Trobe university? Why not back at Victoria Park?

I think Victoria Park has had a few complaints in the past over the state of its facilities and playing surface, although that doesn't explain why they're not playing at Olympic Park where they actually train.

Thanks UTD!

Is anyone here prepared to post what they believe the final Top Ten will be at the end of the home and away season?

Sure, why not:

Geelong           17   1   0   68

Werribee          14   3   1   58

Box Hill             13   5   0   52

Sydney             11   6   1   46

Williamstown    11   6    1  46

GWS                 11   7   0   44

Port Melbourne 11   7   0   44

Tasmania           10   7   1   42

Frankston          10   8   0   40

Carlton              10   8    0  40

Inclined to tip Southport at home though would rather see Frankston win. I don't have a great track record tipping though so perhaps Frankston supporters should take that as a sign they'll finish in the top 6! Would also like to see Coburg make finals and have 5 of the independent clubs in the finals but I have them losing to Williamstown at Willy's home ground and finishing on 10 wins, and Carlton, who I have winning 3 of their last 4, have the better percentage.

I'm reasonably confident about our final three games after knocking off the Giants the way we did. Southport up there won't be easy but I believe our biggest barrier to success against them has been a mental one. Now that we've beaten Southport once this year, we can finally go up there knowing they can be beaten.

I expect Port Melbourne to be the toughest of the three at this point. It looks like they're finally showing some upward momentum and with their finals hopes still very much alive, that game is going to have the intensity of an elimination final in my opinion.

I'm still concerned that 10-8 won't be enough to make finals this year, not with so many teams crammed so close together in the middle of the pack. I doubt I'll relax until we've either won 2 of our last 3 or if other results confirm that 10 wins will be enough.

I ended up tipping home ground advantage for all of Frankston's last three games, but I'd be more than happy to be wrong on each count! Definitely hope you're right that we'll at least provide some tough opposition for you - despite considerable improvement this season, Port have still struggled to put a solid four quarters together, so I'm not confident about our game against you guys. We'll see, and in the meantime good luck today against Southport.

I think for me, the upsets this round were more about margins than wins. Essendon getting up fairly early against Box Hill which I wouldn't have tipped, but managed to be put on a for goal margin.

Sydney kicking 25 goals on their way to a thinking of GWS who currently sit 6th on the ladder.
