With so many AFL sides wanting to have there own stand alone sides is there a possibility of having 2 divisions once more??
With all the rumour going it sounds like there could be close to 20 sides come 2012-2013.
This would be a great chance for Football Victoria to have a promotion/relegation system in place. Most other sporting leagues all around the world use this set up. Soccer, Hockey, County cricket in england etc.
*Powerhouse clubs from local leagues could also test themselves against the best sides in the state.
*Scrap the salary cap and give incentive for the best players outside the AFL to play in the VFL. And not go to local leagues for cash.
Of the current teams in the VFL: Werribee, Casey and Box Hill all spent many years in the old division 2 and would not be in the VFL without the old promotion/relegation system.
Clubs would have to make a business proposal to football victoria if they want to enter a side in the new Division 2.
Things like money, facilities, players etc would all come into play when deciding what new sides enter the VFL.
