The First VFA game under lights in Victoria was in 1873, but these games were not for premiership points.
There were a few post season VFA matches, and a VFA v VFL match under lights in the 1930s
The VFA also played in the 1950 Brisbane Carnival that played night matches.
But....can anyone help me with the first VFA match under lights for premiership points....and was the VFA involved with a night premiership at the Lake Oval in the late 1950s? I cannot find newspaper references for these and would be very interested if anyone knows?
BTW in the VFL/AFL the first night game as part of the regular VFL season IN VICTORIA is:
Fri 29-Mar-1985 7:40 PM Att:65,628 Venue: M.C.G.
North Melbourne 4.4 5.8 11.12 15.13 103
Collingwood 4.7 10.8 14.11 21.15 141
Collingwood won by 38 pts
