Bulldogs dump Gotch, seek new VFL coach

The Bulldogs will not renew Brad Gotch's contract

THE WESTERN Bulldogs are on the lookout for a new VFL and development coach after the club announced it would not renew Brad Gotch's contract at the end of the 2009 season.

Gotch has overseen the development of the club's youngsters and coached VFL affiliate Williamstown for the past two years after the Dogs switched their alignment from Werribee at the end of the 2007 season.

The Seagulls enjoyed a strong home-and-away season to finish second on the ladder in 2009 but exited the finals in straight sets.

Gotch coached Williamstown for eight years in total – six of those while employed by Collingwood – to become the second-longest serving coach in the club's 146-year history.

He coached the Seagulls to the finals in six of his eight years including the 2003 VFL Premiership and in total coached 161 games for 93 wins, 63 losses and two draws.

"We would like to take this opportunity thank Brad for all the work he has done with our development team over the past two seasons," Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia said.

"[We] wish him all the best for his future endeavours."
