The League's Official Website
Body:
For starters, this unofficial site s***s over the garbage AFL Victoria produce. You're to be congratulated Ons (or NorthPort) for giving us the chance to talk about the competition, promoting the game and for the volume of traffic this site gets. But thats not the topic of my discussion... Two of the top four "LATEST NEWS" items on the front page of the OFFICIAL website are relating to practice match schedules. Yes, practice match schedules!!!! We are about to enter ROUND FIVE of the competition. There are two big Anzac Day games coming up - not a single promotion of them. Why wouldnt the latest news be promoting these games? Where are our weekly wrap ups? Weekend previews? They're hidden away - great job you do Benny Carbonaro, but they should feature on the home page. The ABC man of the match link hasnt been updated since Round 2. The broadcast schedule spreadsheet is good...now lets hope it gets updated beyond Round 6. It seems to lack care. It seems that those in control doubt it has the ability to promote the competition. I'm here to tell you that it can. And it should be. VFL clubs run on limited budgets, they rely on volunteers. Many of them bust their guts to make sure their club performs the best it can on and off the field. Seemingly, without any help from the head honchos at AFL Victoria. The marketing people know who they are, about time they started doing their job. Then again, perhaps they're too busy still trying to find a major sponsor.
