He played for us in 2022 then got drafted by Gold Coast at the end of the year. Thought it was worth bringing up since he joins Fordham and Stoddart as an ex-Frankston player.
Not as if much changes from this year. McLaughlin kicked a bag against us when we got demolished by the Suns. Hopefully when we play Williamstown we actually show up.
Another ex-Frankston player lands at Williamstown......surprise surprise. He joins a long list that goes back quite a few years. We have a half eaten pizza in the kitchen if you want that too gulls? Sickening.
most of those players (Cavarra, Pongracic, Newman, Gray, etc) came to Willi when Frankston surrended their licence - there has only been a few come this way since such as Mitch Cox and the guys this year but there is usually a reason such as travel
Its very frustrating losing quality players as often as we do, and it really bites when they go to other standalones. One day I hope, one or two of the dozens of these guys who when delisted, will return to the club that gave them the chance to play AFL.
The only one I can remember who returned to Frankston was back in 1992 when the great John Parker was delisted by Brisbane...
Port and especially Willi are recruiting extremely well, and according to Paul Amy, Southport have done well also. Noticably lagging behind again is Frankston. Looks like another kleiner year coming up unless they can add some size and experience to the list...
I'm certainly hoping to hear more recruiting news over the next couple months. So far I'm impressed with who we've picked up, but I wouldn't mind a big name signing if possible.
I'm hoping 2024 will be a year where we get a glimpse of what this team is capable of. My gut feeling is that finals isn't really on the cards just yet. With a new coach and new system, I'm accepting that it might take a while for things to click. But I do think we need to at least improve on last year and get ourselves out of the bottom four. Showing some upward momentum will be important both for attracting players and supporters in the next few years.
This is the last week of training before the Christmas break, so I'm expecting a bit of a quiet period from the club over December. Not sure when things start up again but I'll ask when I go down there on Thursday. Hopefully come January we hear a bit more on the recruitment front.
Also related to pre-season, the VFL is apparently going ahead with the pre-season carnival involving the six Victorian standalones again next year, but at a different venue than Cragieburn. Frankston's been suggested as a possible venue.

well, you were concerned that you had jinxed the Dollies

If we cant get some big names soon we are in trouble for next year. Yet again, the losses are far greater than the gains.
Fordham, Stoddart, Lambert, Owens are just about the four best players from last year. Thank God we kept Voss and Mynott.
