Port's two's brief wrap-up
Body:
Very brief, because I only arrived at just on 3/4 time, where the games result was already beyond doubt. However Ghazi was disappointed with selfish efforts in the 3rd quarter, and reinforced that he wanted more protection of the bloke with the ball, by setting up blocks and shepards. Adrain Newman continued his good kicking in front of goals, kicking 8 for the game, while a host of other players kicked multiple goals. For the play I saw, I thought Alexander looked in good touch, in one passage of play getting the ball from the centre bounce tap, and running to the edge on the centre square and kicking a long goal. The game showed how much depth Port has at the moment, with Pinwill named amongst the best, and Gieschen and Rudd who have played senior football this year also doing well. Joel Perry, who was the lone Kangaroos listed player in the side, was ok for the play I saw, without being a stand-out. Port Melbourne 5.2 13.6 17.11 24.16 (160) Springvale Scorpions 2.2 4.2 6.2 7.2 (44) Port Melbourne Goals: Newman 8, Alexander 3, Geischen 2, Thomas 2, Johnstone 2, Giansiracusa 2, Troon, Ramsay, Dick, Rudd, Gibson. Best: Cheevers, Geischen, Pinwill, Rudd, Newman, Johnstone. Springvale Scorpions Goals: Carter 2, Blackwood, Winterton, Stagliano, Scott, Taylor. Best: Wynne, Callery, S.Fredericks, Main, Collins, Winterton.
