Body:
A few rumours doing the rounds say David King has been interviewd for the coaching position. Interesting, if true.
Personally, I don't expect David King to be appointed senior coach.
However, I think he will have some kind of coaching role at the club this year. Kingy would make an excellent junior development coach. I think he would need to coach at some other level (Port's Reserves?) before getting a senior VFL coaching position.
Now.. here is my "from left field" suggestion... I think King might have a job similar to Filandia last year, where he played several games during the year, but was also a match-day coach.
Hopefully the club will be making an announcement by next Monday (FitzGerald was announced as coach after last years Cox Plate weekend).
I think the coaches they would be considering are (in no order):
Ghazi
Filandia
McDonald
King
Ross (coached previously with some success)
I don't think they will consider Crocker who coached the club previously.
I think the club would prefer to maintain an independant coach who is not working for the Kangaroos coaching department.
With FitzGerald withdrawing from the East Perth job, could he now re-apply for the position at Port?
My tip... Ghazi. Although I dont like the thought of a Seagull coaching down at the Borough... I guess I have to move with the times...
