Bullants V Box Hill Practice Match
Bullants 4.2.26 11.3.69 15.5.95 20.8.128 21.12.138 25.13.163 B. Hill 2.2.14 2.4.16 4.6.30 5.7.37 6.8.44 8.14.62 Goals [NB]- D.Morrell 5, T.Sporn 3, B.Davies 2, M.Hooper 2, V.Sicillano 2, R.Jackson 2, M.lord 2, J.Davies 1, A.Hickey 1, E.Murray 1, S.wiggins 1, G.Gilbert 1, M.Hockley 1, A.Dobby 1. Reserves game was cancelled and six quarter match played. Senior Bullants players generally played first half, Carlton listed players three quarters and last three quarters was basically Bullants reserves players. Ross Young had good half and would've racked up close to 20 possessions. Digby Morrell kicked five first half golas in his first hitout for the year. Justin Crow and Frank Raso also played first half, with Michael Hooper playing three quarters. Trent Sporn, Justin Davies, Simon Wiggins were only experienced Carlton players to play. Young Carlton recruit Paul Bower was impressive in first half. Still only early and opposition has been moderate but the Bullants look ok. VFL list has been beefed up and looks the best it's been since the Carlton alignment.
Certainly the dominant side pretty much all day , Bullants went on to record their annual practice match throbbing of an undermanned Box Hill side. With no Hawthorn players in attendance , the young Box Hill list certainly got a football lesson from the likes of Morrell , Sporn , Davies , Wiggins etc . Agree with bullants re the inprovement in the VFL list down there, Some likely looking lads in the latter stages especially. No panic stations at City Oval. We had a very very young squad and the experience against a stronger opposition wont do them any harm. Certainly their work rates were impressive if nothing else. Better players in the brown and gold were Dan Seehusen , Stuart Hill , Cam Hunter , Ryan Breese , Brad Kelleher and Dale Bull. Box Hill players will be heading off on their pre-season camp next weekend before stepping up to Werribee at Whitten oval the following Saturday. With an influx of Footscray and Hawthorn players , it should be ripper of a game with two very attacking styles.
Thought Stevie Daniher was pretty good in his 2nd stint with the club. Sporn and Wiggins were certainly the difference. Thought Hunter was dead one time when he got crunched but he bounced right up. Looking forward to seeing Crooky play. Hill has improved two-fold.
