Crowds
Congrats to the Tassie public and their ability to get big crowds to the VFL week in and week out. I think they have really showed the justification in giving them 2 home finals. Well done.

I went to Hobart a couple of years ago to see Tassie V Sandringham at the North Hobart Oval... They got around 7-8 thousand there that day They get crowds we can only reminisce about now.... Sandy V Port could always count on at least 5 thousand in years gone by... Willy V Port even more.......

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

What sought of crowd does everyone think they would have got if the Tassie v Nth Ballarat was played at Ballarat? I think at least 5,000.
Shamus
Official attendance for Tasmania v. North Ballarat was 8,468. Great result for the VFL.

Yeah, well done to the theatregoers who jumped on the Devils cos they were in the finals. Tasmania's biggest challenge is to get some of these people to go more often. Hopefully they liked what they saw. As for Phil Cleary's stupid comment in Inside Football - how can he possibly suggest the VFL play a Grand Final in Tasmania in a few years? It is Victoria's showpiece league, and the ultimate match should NEVER be played down there. Phil doesn't even get a flight down there with the ABC when Tassie games are shown!

Whilst having Tassie in the league is good, the GF should never be removed from Victoria.

We have plenty of those. You can see they've dusted off the old beanie for the first time in years. However, 8,500 is only 3,000 short of the crowd Hawthorn got to an AFL game at the MCG this year isn't it Matty?

When was the last time any VFL team other than the Devils got average H&A crowds of 4-5,000?

The VFL will never get massive crowds in Victoria because we have 200,000 people go to AFL games in Victoria every weekend and tens of thousands more attend high quality local and amateur football.

And of course Hobart's population is just the same as Melbourne's, isn't it? And I think you'll find less than 150,000 people go to AFL matches in Melbourne each week.

Peter Donegan mentioned during the last quarter on Sunday that a few people on this site were bagging Phil Cleary for his suggestion about the Grand Final being played in Tasmania. Is that our moment in the spotlight Matty? :D
