Rnd 17 - Port Melb V Roosters
Saturday 31st July -TEAC Oval at 1.10pm (ABC TV) Port Melbourne B: Trotter LeCras Gibson HB: Urch Firrito Sansbury C: Schwarze Robbins Watson HF: Harding Gill Aloi F: Cotchett Chad Jones Lawrence R: McKernan S.Clayton J.Clayton Inter: Alexander Pitt Grima McMahon Cheevers Newman Perry Howard North Ballarat B: Greig Moloney McLean HB: Biddiscombe Ryall McCorkell C: Eccles Field Whyman HF: Clark Tuckey McMahon F: Foott Saunders Taylor R: Bye Plunkett Hutchinson Inter: J. Edwards C. Edwards Frith McNamara Goodes Foster Ewart McConnell Newman could be a chance to play his first game, after 7 years away from Port. He spent a year on the list in 97. Obst is still out after injuring himself prematch last week. Lawrence, return from injury, while Nick Gill forces his way back from the reservers. Jeremy Clayton has been named after playing in the two's last week. Looking at North's side, I think they could give Ports defence some problems, and Joel Perry might come into the side to play on one of the taller forwards.

Joel Perry did play, and was useful in defence. McKernan played his best game to date for Port. A firey game, and a couple of reports might result from a few scuffles, mostly in the second quarter.

In the reserves, Port had host of winners across the ground in a one-sided contest. Kris Shore was handy across the ground, including a spell in the ruck. Rose played, returning from injury. Injuries from the game included Tom Hooker (ankle) and Rob Cheevers (finger).

Did Port have 85 possessions and nearly 40 marks in the first quarter? Very inefficient!!!
