It was a disappointing year because we have slid from premiers in 2011 to beaten grand finalists last year to 7th in the regular season for 2013. The amount of times we got absolutely thrashed was very worrying, and even when we did win, several of the victories were hardly Port like (first game against Coburg and the Bendigo game come to mind).
I think we need to trade and recruit fairly aggressively to keep ourselves up with the best, especially with two AFL teams added to the mix next year.
As for putting up a better fight in the semi-final, we were clearly mentally gone. It hurts quite a bit but I am still proud of my boys for making it that far.
Yes well said. It appeared to me that when they were hot they were on fire and when they weren't they realy struggled. On their day they looked like they could take on anybody and even win the flag but when they performed badly (like last Saturday) it looked like they shouldn't be on the same park as the opposition. I have never known of a side who is so hot an cold and have tried to work out the reason why and can't do so. In round 10 we were top of the ladder beating Willie on their home ground by 40 points and then it went pear shaped after North ballarat. (Thanks Digs and North Ballarat and please don't do that again). Then a few weeks back we showed we could match it with the best losing to geelong by a mere goal and leading in the last quarter!!!
