VFL R17 - Coburg v Port Melbiurne
Body:

What can you say?

Well done Coburg. I thought we was the better side for most of the day... But somehow the Lions managed to keep in touch. You might think that when we kicked the first goal of the last quarter as well, that it was in the bag.

But then Coburg come out and kick the next 6 goals to snag an amazing come from behind victory by 5 points.

The season now feels like it will Peter out for the Borough.

I think a new coach is almost a certainty in 2025.

All in all, a pretty cold and black day of footy!

A memorable day for Coburg well done on being resilient enough to keep fighting as far as Port goes im lost for words. I remember the days that we would crush sides in 4th quarter tight contests now it seems no matter what leed we have we can't be guaranteed a win. Its happened v Casey, Gold coast, Carlton now Coburg. How does this happen ? Is it lack of fitness? Confidence? Unsure how it happens but i do know this isnt the Port Melbourne oppositions would fear and with all the pre season hype of great recruiting (Digs said we would win it :) ) which brought about expectations of top 4 finishes not only from our club but outside our community then this must be one of the most underwhelming seasons in Port Melbourne history. Lastly one more observation- whilst fans don't run the club its fans who asked for changes to be made after last season which fell on deaf ears only to be reassured that this season would be different and it would be a time of change which has led to fan frustration that their cries were nit heard and the club didnt try something new. Youve got to worry when long term supporters say they wont be back until changes are made as they are left with their loyalty and patience tested whilst living through one of Ports most difficult onfield eras with a mere 19 wins from 60 games post covid.

Did I say that Mega ?

Might have been a little tongue in cheek !

Very hard not to get caught up in the annual hype from Port fans re quality recruits & high expectations at the start of every season.

Still think that Port fans including yourself have never been happy with the current coach.

Might be time to bring back Garrry. Things have not been the same since he got the flick !

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

It was tongue in cheek but a good one nevertheless, up there with Port has the best function centre in the competition. As for your last 2 sentences, now you are sounding like a true Port Melbourne supporter. I think its time, i think its time to return home prodigal son !
