The rise of womens football.
Body:

It's really taken off in the last 2 or 3 years. We've now got a VFL Womens league and the AFL are poised to announce next years AFL Womens league.

I'm all for the move, as womens footy is actually pretty strong in the suburbs despite lots of other sporting options available to women.

I do think that it might be case of another competition that the VFA/VFL has to compete with and I look back and think that my club Port Melbourne probably should have pushed for a licence.

If the AFL is willing to put money into what will most likely be a loss-making exercice (at least for the first few years), how much they will look at other things that struggle to be profitable, such as an AFL Reserves League.

Thoughts?
