Fallen AFL star Ben Cousins plans to register with VFL side Port Melbourne by next Monday as he keeps his football options open. Cousins doubts he will play in the VFL this year, but wants to enter into more specific football training.

In an interview tonight on Channel Nine\'s The Footy Show, Cousins said he would probably move from Perth and live in the Port Melbourne area.

Cousins, who also turns 30 on Monday, said he was "not sure" if he wanted to return to the AFL next season.

"I want to do a bit more football-specific training, see how the body feels ... I don\'t want to come back and slip up again," he said.

BEN Cousins seems destined to sign with Port Melbourne this year.

An announcement on Cousins\' future is expected today, although it\'s not clear if he will only train -- and not play - in preparation for a stunning comeback in the AFL in 2009.

It\'s understood Cousins, who has done a deal to speak tonight on The Footy Show, will say he is fit and healthy and ready to take the first steps to return to the AFL arena.

Port Melbourne in the VFL and East Perth in the WAFL are understood to be Cousins\' preferred destinations.

ABC TV’s Head of Sport Iain Knight today announced that the ABC will cover live on ABC1 (free to air) the VFL Grand Final to be held on AFL Grand Final Eve at Telstra Dome on Friday, September 26.

AFL Victoria Chief Executive Officer Peter Schwab congratulated the ABC on their decision to show the VFL Grand Final live.

“Since our decision to celebrate Australian Football’s 150th birthday by holding a ‘Celebration of Victorian Football’ on AFL Grand Final Eve featuring the TAC Cup and VFL Grand Finals, we have been working with the ABC to formulate a broadcast strategy for the VFL Grand Final,” Schwab said.

“In a bold move, the ABC will contribute to our celebrations of ‘150 years of Australian Football’ by replacing a number of its popular Friday night programs with coverage of the VFL Grand Final from 7.30pm.
