CAPTAIN Shaune Moloney becomes the first North Ballarat player to achieve Victorian Football League life membership on Sunday.
He automatically attains the honour on playing his 175th VFL senior game against Frankston at Frankston.
Selkirk Roosters coach Gerard FitzGerald said Moloney was an outstanding ambassador for North Ballarat and the competition.
"He's worked very hard on his football and has had an outstanding career.
"He is highly respected within our club and the wider VFL community," he said.
FitzGerald said "Spider" Moloney thoroughly deserved the honour of life membership.
Moloney, 32, has captained the Roosters since 1996 and led them to two premierships in the past two years.
Recruited from Lake Wendouree in 1998, he took out the club best and fairest in 2004 and represented the VFL against Western Australia in the same year.
Moloney is again in the running to wear the Big V against the WAFL this season.
The full-back is one of five North Ballarat players selected in an initial VFL squad being coached by FitzGerald.
JJ Liston Trophy winner Myles Sewell, ruckman Orren Stephenson, midfielder Stephen Clifton and tall defender Matt Tyler are also among 46 players named.
The squad also features former Rooster Jarrod McCorkell (Northern Bullants).
Ex-North Ballarat player Tom Roach is in the WA squad for the interstate clash in Perth on Saturday, May 22.
Roach joined Swan Districts after being part of two premierships with the Roosters.
Brent LeCras is another WA squad member known to North Ballarat, having played with it while on the North Melbourne list.
