Haven't seen the article, but apparently Inside Football reported that the Borough were looking at reintroducing a limit on AFL-listed players in Port's Senior side.
The Borough used such a limit with good success while working with the Swans, but the rule was not in place last year, the first year of the Roos alignment.
Port a probably looking to promote several players who have played good footy and deserve a chance up in the seniors.

Had a quick read of the article today. Tim Harrington refused to comment on the exact number. The issue was likely to be resolved this week.
If no change is made during the 2004 season, it looks likely that the Borough will include that as a requirement for the alignment in 2005.
Heard over at BF, that Harrington spoke on the issue yesterday, and that the matter was still under discussion.
There was a two page article in Inside Football this week, further to their small piece last week. They spoke to Peter Saultry about the issues faced with the alignment.
Also there was news on the departure of both DVCs at Sandringham. Looks like Zebraman is right to be concerned about goings on both at Sandy and the comp.
I heard it was going to be 12 players.
But I looked on the team list last week and they had 14 roos named.

I think it was still very much under discussion, as there was no formal agreement for this season. I beleive the heads of agreement (or whatever its called) is up for renewal at the end of this season.

No, that would be the contract.
I do not support the idea of capping the number of North players. In Port's best interest, they should select the best 22 every week and not concern themselves with how many North listed and Port listed players are playing. Whether it be 2-3 North players or 22 North players, the best 22 should play!
If Port Melbourne were to fielded an entire team of North Melbourne players, you may as well go back to the AFL reserves competition. This is a VFL competition with aligned clubs being supplemented with AFL players. VFL players are already leaving to play in the Suburban leagues, where they are better rewarded for their effort.

Absolutely correct, but the problem is that it doesnt happen.
You will find guys playing in the maggos that are playing better footy than some of the AFL players, but they wont drop back because its not in the interests of the AFL club.
Forcing a cap, is the only possible way of resolving the inequity and giving the kids that bust their gut for the club they signed with some rewqrd for their efforts/

Dolphin, Are you agreeing that Port Melbourne should be permitted to field an entire side of North Melbourne AFL players, in the VFL competition?
That will never happen anyway, as we only have 17 players who don't play AFL each week. And that is only if we have no injures, and are playing in Melbourne.
If we have a couple of injuries at North, are playing interstate, there may only be 8-10 North listed players available for Port.
Last week Bendigo had 18 AFL listed players, won't get much worse than that!
