The Scorpions got off to a good start but couldn't convert on the scoreboard. Geelong then piled on 4 goals in 10 mins to take a 3 goal lead into the 1st change. The 2nd Quarter was a fairly even affair with both sides kicking 3.3 to keep the cats at the same margin at the half. Both teams kicked an early goal in the 2rd quarter before the worst 30 mins of the game as from the 10 min mark of 3rd term to the 9 min mark of the final term the teams combined kicking 0.13 (Geelong 0.6,Scorpions 0.7). Nobody could kick a goal. Before Geelong steadied with a couple of goals and ended up kicking 4.9 to 3.2 in the final term to win by 27 pts. James Rahilly and Tom Lonergan best for the Cats. James Taylor and Ashley Eames best for the Scorpions. A poor standard game between 2 sides outside the top eight. Little were the spectators that were there to know just over an hour later we would witness a very poor AFL game.
