DEVILS WIN AT LONG LAST
After 11 straight losses and 98 days the Tasmania Devils have celebrated victory after defeating the Box Hill Hawks by 26 points at Box Hill City Oval today.
Tasmania lead right from the start kicking 4 goals to 3 in the 1st quarter to lead by 8 points at the 1st change.
The Devils continued to apply the pressure in the 2nd quarter with the midfield of Hall, Gaeppen and Adams performing well and helping the Devils to a 15 point half time lead.
Box Hill came out with much more vigour in the 3rd quarter with Height, Breese and Tuck starting to dominate but 3 late goals to Devil forward Brodie Moles took Tasmania out to what looked like a match winning 27 point three quarter time lead.
Box Hill came out and threw everything at the Devils with Matt Little kicking 3 last quarter goals as the Hawks got to within 13 points half way through the quarter. Late goals to Leigh Adams, Lachlan Hansen and Aaron Cornelius sealed the win for the Devils.
It was a fantastic team effort from the Devils and coach Darryn Cresswell was really pleased with the way they played the game right out.
Leigh Adams, Brodie Moles and Brett Gaeppen were the best for the Devils while Matt Little, Ryan Breese and Kristan Height best for the Hawks.
Tasmania will be looking for their 1st win at home for the season next Saturday as they take on Frankston at Bellerive Oval in the ABC TV game at 1:10pm. Box Hill travel to Coburg to take on the Coburg Tigers next Saturday at 2pm.
