So much for the local VFL team!
Body:
Looks like the FFC is on the way out even though they are supposed to represent the City of Frankston. ST Kilda have form on this as they destroyed the VFA premier club Moorabbin to take Linton Street oval away from them. Government kicks in for Saints: By Matt Burgan 1:15 PM Tue 11 March, 2008 THE Victorian Government has announced it will provide $3.45 million towards St Kilda’s new home base in Frankston. The funding is part of a $10.25 million redevelopment of Frankston Park. St Kilda chief executive Archie Fraser said, “This announcement keeps the project on track and will see the players training here in Franskton before the 2010 season begins.” Forward Nick Riewoldt said the Saints had the full support of the Frankston community, with more than 5000 people attending its family day last Sunday. “It was a great opportunity for us to show off some silverware after winning the NAB Cup,” he said. “We are definitely looking forward to relocating permanently in 2010. It’s going to be very exciting.” The project to move St Kilda’s training facility and administration base from Moorabbin to Frankston will include a gymnasium, rehabilitation pool, indoor sports hall, meeting rooms and lecture theatre, which will be used by local sporting clubs and associations, community groups, the Victorian Institute of Sport and local healthcare providers. The Victorian Government is jointly funding the project with $2.55 million from the AFL, $1.25 million from St Kilda and $3 million from the City of Frankston.
