VFL Tipping competition 2006
VFL Tipping is back for the 2006 season. This years VFL Footy tipping competition hopes to have at least 120 tipsters taking part.
The inaugural VFL tipping comp was held in 2000. Last season included 96 tipsters and are hopeful of at least 120 for the coming season. To all new tipsters welcome aboard, the more the merrier.
The cost to enter the VFL tips is $20 for the year.
Based on 100 tipsters, the prizemoney will be as follows:
100 x $20 = $2000.00
Prizemoney will be of course more with more tipsters joining.
Competition Details
The top three place getters prizemoney for first place is $550, second place $300, and for third $110. Plus select the aggregate score for the ABC VFL match of the day. (Total = $960)
For the following rounds 1/3/5/7/9/10/11/13/15/17/19 tipster closest to the aggregate score will collect $40 for each of those rounds. (Total $440)
If we can get more than 100 tipsters, the prizemoney for the top 3 placegetters will be bigger and we can include more rounds for the ABC match of the day to select the aggregate score.
The tipster to select 6 winners and closest to the aggregate score to collect a $30 weekly prize. If no tipster has selected 6 winners, the prizemoney will jackpot to the next week.
The top three pays out $960, the aggregate score pays out $440, and the weekly (6 winners) pays out $600.
All tips to be sent by email or phone by Friday.
Any tipster who has not put their tips in for the round will be given the away teams.
The $20 entry fee must be paid prior Round 6.
Every Monday I will send a tipsters ladder, summary of the weekends matches and a list of next weekends matches. I will also send a tips reminder each Friday.
If you know of anyone else who is interested please let them know.
More details to follow within the next week or two.

FOOTYMAN and SHEEDS SHARE TIPS
In a sensational finish to the 2005 VFL footy tipping comp 6 tipsters fought out a grandstand finish.
After the Saturday games were completed and 2 matches to go (Williamstown v Tassie and Frankston v Port Melbourne) the tipping comp was still up for grabs. Only 2 tips separated the leading 6 tipsters.
For the record Port Melbourne beat Frankston and Tassie hung on by 5 points which elevated first season tipster Brad 'Footyman' Jamison to 77 tips.
Port
Melbourne diehard Colin 'Sheeds' Sheedy also picked 4 winners to take his total to 77 winners. Each share 1st prize of $450 each. Sheeds will be hoping for his beloved Boroughs can fire up during September. The unlucky tipster would have to be Rick Dennis. A Williamstown win over Tassie would have seen Rick be the outright winner. The seagulls failed by 5 points and also missed out on making the finals. Rick Dennis finished on 76 winners to share equal third with Box Hill fan and another first year tipster Darren Pace. Darren needed Frankston to win over Port and he would've shared first prize with Rick Dennis. They both collect $55 each for third place.
One tip behind the top four was the 1980 JJ Liston Trophy winner Steve Allender. He finished with 75 winners. He will be cheering Port hard during the finals. Darren Hayes, Kevin 'The Gnome' McIntosh and old Prahran VFA supporter and former Box Hill Under 19s captain from about 20 seasons ago and an old Geelong West Roosters fan Shane Fenton all finished with 74 winners.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS AND THANKS TO ALL FOR ENTERING THIS SEASONS VFL TIPPING COMP. LOOKING FORWARD TO 2006 SEASON.

TASSIE STOPS SEAGULLS FROM FINALS
Williamstown failed by 5 points after the Devils won their ninth straight match at Point Gellibrand. Justin Plapp kicked 4 goals for the devils with Nathan Grima and liston chance Ian Callinan best. For the seagulls Craig Smoker continues his good form from last week with another 2 goals.
Williamstown has missed the finals due to a poor percentage. Box Hill who had a bye will now play finals as the teams needing a win Springvale losing to North Ballarat and Williamstown to Tassie. North Ballarat put a nail in Springvale's finals chances with an emphatic 67 point win. Nathan Saunders showed his best form for the season with 7 goals. Werribee tuned up for the finals with a big 101 point win over Coburg at Chirnside Park. Jade Rawlings atoned for his poor performance the previous week with an 8 goal haul.
Brad
Murphy and Salim Hassan also stood out. For the burgers Adam Houlihan kicked
3 goals. Geelong scored a shock 5 goal win over a disappointing Bendigo.
It
was a big day for Geelong as the AFL team upset West Coast. Geelong's David Haynes kicked 3 goals with Bendigo's Ben Haynes also kicking 3 goals.
Port
Melbourne ran away from Frankston in the last term with a 5 goal to 2 quarter. David Pitt kicked 4 for the Borough. Northern Bullants hung on by 6 points in a fluctuating game at the Trevor Barker Beach Road Oval. Sandy stormed home late in the game to just fail. Brett Johnson was best for the Bullants with Zebra Captain Chad Liddell prominent as usual. The two teams will meet next Saturday again at the Teac Oval in the Qualifying Final.
