Final Scores:
Port Melbourne 16.10.106
Werribee 12.9.81
Didn't have a Werribee senior team-list, and this is a Port-biased write-up anyway.
Played in hot conditions, the game was very physical early with Port blasting an early lead, with and 8 goal to 1 first quarter. Nathan Thomspon kicked 3 in the quarter, while Adrian Bonaddio and David Pitt and presented well kicking 2 and 1 goals repsectively. Bonaddio's first came from and intercepted handball, he then side-stepped the player and slotted through a nice goal. At quarter time 8.3.51 to 1.2.8
Port had a similar second quarter, with Lawrence, McMahon, Aloi and Thompson each kicking goals. At half time 12.5.77 to 4.1.28
Werribee looked to be out of the game adding another 3 goals in the third quarter, while David Pitt who has had a terrific pre-season kicked 3 goals. Josh Rudd slotted one through close to 3/4 time. 16.7.103 to 7.5.47.
Werribee fought hard in the last quarter and kicked 5 goals, while holding Port goal-less in the final term. Hassan continues to impress at Werribee. The Tigers really lifted in the final term, while Port appeared to tire, which is a good sign for the 'bees, as they went into the game without any AFL-listed players, while Port fielded about 10.
In the Reserves, Port won 17.13.115 to 11.8.74. Nick Thomas and Andrew Gilham look they could provide a potent forward targets for 2005.
