It seems very likely frankston will fold.From what i have been reading through the press next year if they are going to field a side they have asked shannon grant and all players to take a %50 per cent pay cut.I cant see the players hanging around training there backsides off 3 nights a week to play VFL when they can play local footy and earn 3 times as much with little effort.
The trouble is down there is the commitee is like dads army and for to long they have a mentallity that they are still playing in the old VFA days trouble is fellas YOU havent moved with the times and progressed like the remainder of the clubs in the VFL.Frankston can no longer compete and stay financially viable as a stand alone club.They need to get there head out of the sand and immediately align or partially align themselves with a AFL club.
Not only will they save money through player wages they will also start to get people through the gate with better players taking the field.In the last ten years they have knocked back alignments with essendon stkilda and north melbourne and look what has happened to Ballarat they have won the last two flags and kept there identity and so did sandringham with melbourne. Who cares if we loose the dolphin part and become the Frankston Saints i would much prefer that than seeing this great club fold all together.
Casey is another example broke ten years ago and playing there games at different venues every week now they have the best facilitys in the league a agreement with Melbourne which could see there future assured for the next 30 years at least.
Please board pull your heads in move with the times and if i see another article in any press newspaper about how broke you are and pleading for money i am going to throw up you only have your self to blame and stop blaming the grand stand you should be blaming yourself.
Please i have been following this club for 35 years and it will be a tragedy to see it go under take action fast or no one will have a club INCLUDING the board.
