I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read in the Leader newspaper that Gary Ayres had a big whinge about the poor facilities across the VFL, the lack of funding being provided to the VFL and likened the visiting coaches box at Box Hill to a chicken coop and went looking for his gumboots. Apparently he repeated the comment on SEN last week, I didn’t hear it but others may have.
No disrespect, Gary, but the facilities provided to the visitors at Port Melbourne aren’t too flash either! The coaches box looks OK but those players rooms are straight out of the 1920s.
You’d reckon he would be more on top of the millions being spent at VFL grounds at the moment and the major works already completed at venues like North Ballarat, Werribee, Casey and Box Hill.
It’s ironic that he had a crack at the facilities at Box Hill on the same day the Club opened it’s brand new $2 million pavilion. Come on Ayresy, you must have noticed it, the ball spent the entire last quarter down that end of the ground!
