WILLIAMSTOWN skipper Brett Johnson is hoping it is third time lucky given his wretched luck on J. J. Liston Trophy night in recent seasons.

The former Hawthorn and Carlton midfielder has finished runner-up twice since joining the Seagulls in 2006 - he was one vote behind last year's winner James Podsiadly in equal second place and one vote behind Aaron Edwards in 2006.

Tomorrow night, he will head to Etihad Stadium again as one of the hot favourites after a scintillating season in which he racked up at least five best-on-grounds. This time, the 27-year-old says he has no expectations but has his eyes firmly on future success with Williamstown, which bowed out of the finals with a loss to Collingwood yesterday.
