THE Werribee Tigers have signed assistant coach Paul Satterley as their senior coach for next season, replacing Simon Atkins who quit the club at the end of the season.

Atkins is stepping down as senior coach of Werribee.
The Tigers' board has decided to make the coaching position full-time and Atkins says he can only serve in a part-time capacity.
The former Footscray and Fitzroy centreman has led Werribee for six seasons and will finish up after next weekend's Round 18 clash with the Casey Scorpions.
"I've got other things outside footy. I’m not getting in to full-time footy," he told Leader this afternoon.
"It's the board's decision. They know how my week is structured, around 30 to 35 hours a week, but they obviously want more time put into it. That’s fair enough."
In his first year in charge Atkins took the Tigers to the 2005 grand final. Three years later they reached the preliminary final.

THE Werribee Football Club has called for an urgent upgrade as players are forced to practice in decrepit facilities.
General manager Mark Penaluna last week appealed for a $100,000 grant during the council budget submissions to overhaul the clubhouse.
He said the club was in desperate need of new change rooms for players and umpires, lecture rooms, gym, rehab facilities, canteen, bar and disabled access and toilets.

played out a thrilling draw against the Gold Coast under lights on Saturday
night at Chirnside Park.
After a disappointing 46-point loss away against Sandringham the previous week, the Tigers were looking to open their account for season 2010 against a Gold Coast team brimming with young talent.
The Coasters' youth and enthusiasm shone through as they played a cleaner and more consistent brand of football to hold onto a 25-point lead at the first change.
Werribee was forced to play catch up football as the Gold Coasters continued to play a quick running style of play that featured accurate kicking to contests.
Accuracy in front of goal was also an issue for the Tigers as several easy shots were sprayed, allowing Gold Coast to lead by 22-points at half-time.

THE VFL released its 2010 draw recently, and it has provided some blockbuster clashes already for the Werribee Football Club.
The Tigers kick off their campaign away to the Box Hill Hawks, but the highlight early in the draw is Werribee’s first game against the new Gold Coast team, which will be held under lights at Chirnside Park on Anzac Day eve.
