The loss against Preston exposed a few issues for Port..
Preston showed how the game should be played in the conditions with long direct football with the win, and short sharp passing into the wind to set up shots on goal.
The midfield really struggled. Batsanis was a big loss.
Robbins and a few of the other senior guys had limited impact.
The forward line struggled, possibly because so much of the delivery was coming from out wide on the wings.
How far is Pitt away from making a return? He'd have to play ressies after missing the first three games.
Who's ready to step up from the twos?
I reckon Sengstock is some chance of getting a game in the first half of season. Schultz perhaps. Billy Irving was good in patches a couple of games back, and was named in the bests again this week.
We just looked so flat against the Bullants. Lets hope they fire up against Geelong
I think Port is really missing Nahas, who, by coincidence had a really good game for Richmond on Saturday night.
The small forward department is lacking, Mullins needs to be dropped back to the twos to regain some form. Who in the twos could step up? Did Burstin have a good game in the twos? I liked the defence though and the return of Pitt will help. Baird seems to be down on form, however, he did have a stellar year last year. Also, what was up with the forwards in the last quarter when they did not seem to want to have a shot on goal, even though they where within shooting range.
Go Borough!
Sometimes its a good thing to get the first loss out the way, especially this early in the year, and especially if it gets the coaching staff analysing potential weaknesses.
Nothing to get too concerned about this early i wouldnt think.
We didnt come to terms with the windy conditions. In the first quarter we allowed Preston to kick 5 goals when we were kicking with the breeze which was worth at least 4-5 goals.
Going into quarter time even, we were always going to be up against it. When Preston took advantage of the breeze in the second quarter the game was virtually over. I wouldnt be too worried at this stage its only round 3.
It just goes to show that no matter who you play in the VFL, if u arnt switched on for a quarter or start slowly you can be beat.
The Bonnadio report is a worry. Didnt look much in it but the VFL tribunal can be very inconsistant. He seemed to make high contact when the Preston player was sheparding.
Back home this week, Ayres will be looking for a good showing.

Have seen Bonnadio get angry a few times when things don't go his way. I reckon he's been a bit lucky in the past not to get pinged.
He attacks the ball hard but is not a dirty player. Always seems worse when a big guy is goin hard at it.

Not looking through your Port Melbourne blinkers are you again Burra?
Nah def not. I havnt seen him do anything thats not legal.
Maybe the coach saying he would piss off back to the AFL during the season if given the chance may have something to do with it.
In my experence players are easliy spooked by these sort of things - true or not.

Commie my boy,
Get over Nahas. He is gone and good luck to him. Great to see him performing well for the Tigers.
Not sure about Mullins. I believe he does not do enough in any of the games I have seen.
Ayers seems to have given him many chances.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Digs are you a closet Port supporter as you seem to make more posts on the Mighty Borough than the Roosters?
