Lets not bring all that up again..

I can't say he's someone I would have pursued to get to the Borough. Hopefully he will prove me wrong.

No doubt the team envirionment and feeling apart of a stable side would have been considered in his decision. If he really wanted money he could have went interstate or to many local leagues.

I have seen so many players thrive once they get to Port and play their best football. Id expect Rose to be the same and have a similar impact as Robin Nahas did in 2008.

One thing I will say Digs is that your right in that many footballers do see coming to Port Melb as a great opportunity. But how many Port Melb players do you see leaving and going to other VFL clubs?? I can only think of 1 or 2 in the past 5 years..... There must be a reason!

Burra,
Sorry mate but it is not on field success.
Personally I think that in Rose's case it is a poor reflection on what type of person you are.
Can you imagine what the reaction from Port supporters would be if "Shooter" McMahon were to cross the west gate bridge, all & sundry would be filthy. The same applies to Williamstown supporters, who are entitled to be bloody furious.
As I said previously that there must be more to this than we know about. Interesting about his web site history.

Players have thrived at other clubs as well...even aligned clubs!

Barlow appeared to do ok at Werribee...

Pods made his name there as well...

Valenti, Martin and Warnock did pretty well at Sandy...enough to get them drafted into the AFL...

Just proves that players can "thrive" in aligned and unaligned environments...

I'm sure Rose will do well at Port...just as he would have had he gone back to Williamstown

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

As far as I am aware, Rose's decision is all about money. He decided to go chasing the big bucks once he got delisted by the Bullies and Willi weren't prepared to meet his demands. I'll be attending a function on Sunday week where some high-ranking officials will be present (ie coach, president & GM) so I'll be able to glean some more information there i'm sure. Will keep you posted :-)

Players can thrive at any VFL club if they are good enough. My point is that there is an appeal playing at a stand alone team because there is 22 spots available and not much chopping and changing. The one thing that players hate is swapping teams each week. Especially when they don't deserve to be dropped.

I don't know Roses motives are but I'm happy he will be at port. Maybe he just wants to play with dean galea again, or play under Gary ayres. Who knows. He might feel his time is up at willy and needs a challenge.

This is great news for Port.

We need to build a really strong Stand Alone team like in 2008 and really punish the other teams get some respect back and go one step further and try and get the flag something which has been missing for nearly 28 years which is not good enough.

It's time the Port Melbourne team of 2010 make there own History i know we can do it.

GO Port

I cant belive about this

I'm really happy he came to the borough especially this year having the 12/10 cut out, we need these kind of players that would help alot during the season.

I went to training tonight and it was great all new faces, and Gary said this the most players ive ever seen here as one big group ever before throught my 3 years here, there where like 40-60 players there.

Im abit confused about this aswell when gary was talking to them I straight away saw Fabian Deluca there but his brother was not there, When he played at port he coudent do the great things I thought he would of done, I like his height the most.

Ill find out some more news soon

Go the borough! We can do it and we can show who we are in 2011!
