LIGHTNING-FAST Geelong draftee Jordan Murdoch will miss tomorrow's VFL clash against Casey after breaking his finger in innocuous fashion last week.
Murdoch copped a footy to the finger before last Friday night's match against Bendigo and failed to take any part in the game.
The 20-year-old had surgery this week to have a small pin inserted and faces up to six weeks on the sidelines.
Geelong is sitting second on the VFL ladder, while the Melbourne-affiliated Scorpions are two spots below. Both sides have four wins from five matches, but Casey has been lucky to win a handful of close matches.
Is Melbourne in for another thrashing at Geelong tomorrow?
Melbourne forward Liam Jurrah is set to make a long-awaited comeback in the curtain-raiser tomorrow for Casey.
The Dees' fitness staff have ticked off on the forward's return and he is expected to play about three quarters.
Cats VFL captain Troy Selwood said someone like VFL-listed player Rob Condy, who has performed key shutdown jobs this year, could be given the job on Jurrah.
Selwood also praised the form of rookie-listed midfielder Jonathan Simpkin and said the Cats' hardnut deserved to be recognised with a VFL jumper at the upcoming state league match against Tasmania.
"His form has been really good for us," Selwood said last night.
"I'm hopeful he could continue that and with the state game coming up, he's definitely a candidate for selection is he continues the way he is."
Tomorrow's curtain raiser starts at 10am at Simonds Stadium.
