NORTH Ballarat has reaped the benefits of sweeping changes by North Melbourne coach Brad Scott.

Still reeling from a thrashing at the hands of Hawthorn, the Kangaroos yesterday dropped Aaron Edwards, Cruize Garlett, and Luke and Cam Delaney back to the Selkirk Roosters.

Hawthorn gave North Melbourne a 115-point hiding in Launceston on June 2 to inflict further damage on a season already failing to reach expectations.

There were always going to be repercussions from that performance, which came ahead of a bye.

Edwards is the most significant cull of the quartet.

The high-marking forward came of age last year, partnering Drew Petrie in a potent two-prong attack.

He kicked 36 goals in 19 appearances for the Kangaroos.

Edwards began this season in potent form, kicking 11 goals in the opening three rounds.

Scott has lost patience with him after a return of just three goals in his past four matches.

Edwards has been a big contributor whenever he has played with North Ballarat and he will get an opportunity to regain touch against the Carlton-aligned Northern Blues (formerly the Northern Bullants).

Key defender Luke Delaney finds himself in the VFL after eight straight AFL appearances, while his younger brother and fellow defender Cam Delaney’s run with the Kangaroos ends after four matches in a row.

Garlett had only just managed to break into the North Melbourne line-up, getting two games.

The Roosters also regain North Melbourne youngster Aaron Mullett, who travelled to Tasmania for the Hawthorn match as an emergency and did not play.

On the other hand North Ballarat, which is also coming off a bye, loses Lindsay Thomas to North Melbourne.

It comes as no surprise to see Thomas getting a recall.

He is back in favour at the Kangaroos after kicking six goals in North Ballarat’s 24-point win over Geelong at Kardinia Park.

Picking up Edwards is all the more important for the Roosters given that Paul McMahon is out with a strained hamstring
