NORTH BALLARAT answered every Sandringham challenge to win by 13 points at Trevor Barker Beach Oval yesterday, joining other premiership fancies Port Melbourne and Williamstown on the winners' list.

The Roosters used the first term as a launching pad, with five goals to none on their way to a spirited 15.14 (104) to 12.19 (81) victory.

Subiaco ruckman Michael Rix might have played for Victoria before, but will shelve that for a WA jumper on Saturday and he's desperate to help it achieve a State game win that could make the WAFL competition the strongest below the AFL.

The WAFL representative team will take on the best of the VFL in a State match at Leederville's Medibank Stadium on Saturday.

The VFL State selectors have revised the VFL State Squad ahead of training tonight (18/5) and Thursday prior to Saturday's match.

Unfortunately Sam Gibson (Box Hill Hawks) and Matthew Tyler (North Ballarat) will miss out due to injuries.

The squad will be further revised to a travelling party of 24 after the training on Thursday. WA have agreed to play 23 players, in line with the VFL 23rd Player rule.
