THE Northern Blues were unable to record a victory in Darren Harris' first game back as coach.
Following the resignation of Robert Hyde last Wednesday, Harris stepped back into the top job he held last year ahead of the clash with Box Hill but, after a positive start, the Blues were rolled by 57 points at Box Hill City Oval.
The visitors booted the first three goals of the match - more than the two majors they kicked in the entire match against Geelong the previous week - as started like a rocket.
The Hawks booted home the next three though to take the lead midway through the term, before Tyson Thomas and Bret Thornton each booted their second goals of the term to see the Blues to a 15-point advantage at the first change.
Seven unanswered second term goals from the home side saw it take the ascendancy though, with the Blues only able to add two behinds to their quarter-time total by the main break.
Box Hill booted the first goal of the third term, before Thornton snagged two of the next three of the game to take his tally to four and see the margin still sat at just 25 points midway through the term.
But, from there it was all the Hawks, who booted seven of the last nine goals of the game to run out big winners.
Thornton finished with four majors as the Blues leading goal-kicker, while Luke Mitchell bagged three.
Ed Curnow (36 disposals), Andrew Collins (26 disposals) and Kane Lucas (34 disposals) were named the side's best.
The Blues face Frankston in an away match this Sunday.
