The games this week for the Wildcard round have been. Finalised with scheduling of those games to be confirmed later today.
Matches are:
Casey (7th) v North Melbourne (10th)
Collingwood (8th) v Richmond (9th)

Doesn't work for me the Wild card round. We have a final 8, and if you finish in it you should be playing finals. Great for the 9th and 10th teams but not a fair system. But since when does the AFL care about fair and equal?

Paul, do you really think half the teams in the competition deserve to play finals. Personally I'd bring back the final five.....I don't think anyone beyond that has been consistent enough to deserve to be playing finals. I remember playing junior footy in an 18 team comp with a final four and nobody outside the four complained.
Probably deservedly, the 7th and 8th placed sides in Casey and Collingwood thrashed their respective opponents.

North Melbourne we’re good for first 15 mins today when score was 3 goals each but all Casey after that as they went on to win by 101 points

It's not quite half, but of course I do. Have a look at various comps around:
WAFL 5/10
SANFL 5/10
AFL 8/18
NBL 6/10
NRL 8/17
A-League 6/12
VFL 10/21
It's pretty consistent that half or just short of half the teams play finals, which is a good balance to keep interest in a comp for as long as possible.
Yeah, agree to disagree Paul......these competitions have half the teams in the finals to get more cash in the coffers, no other reason in my opinion. The former VFL had it right with a top 5/12 if you ask me......beyond that is rewarding mediocrity. This comp should have a straight final 8, and I reckon the wildcard results proved that. Two smashings has done nothing to enhance the season.
