Travelled to the new Casey fields complex today...
Conditions were freezing....a cold southerley blowing right up the ground...plus rain..plus around 6 centigrade made for as difficult conditions that I've seen for a long time
Springvale kicked with the wind in the 1st 1/4 and at 1/4 time scores were either level or Sandy down by a couple of points...
Sandy suffered a few injuries and as a result we didn't have anyone on the bench in the last 1/4
Liddell, Poyas, Summers and Rigoni were all unable to play in the last 1/4 so to run out winners made it even more enjoyable. Having the bye next week will certainly help
these players.
Best for Sandy....Danny Hughes best on ground IMO...Jones, Crowe, Gallagher,Lamb..
Had a good look at the new complex and it is very inpressive...the surface was excellent...the visitors rooms are very spacious....the social club upstairs looks good and there was a very rowdy lot out on the balcony..
The atmosphere was really good...maybe because everyone was huddled under the limited cover
The Casey Fields complex really is quite outstanding and will only get better....maybe it needs just a bit more parking available near the main ground
