There is a chance that some of the metro leagues will have delayed starts to their seasons if this drought continues, I believe already the Bendigo, Geelong and Ballarat leagues have been pushed back to start on May 5th.
Its possible that VFL footy could be one of the few leagues in town for the whole of April. I'd love to think the VFL could push this heavily (if it happens) and make every attempt to to boost their crowds early in the season.
I'd love to see the gates thrown open in round 1, surely somehow the home clubs could be compensated financially for the lost gate. In fact, I reckon they'd make up the lost money in food and drink sales if they did it right.
Do you think it's realistic to think footy starved fans might attend the VFL and what needs to be done in case this scenario arises?
Please, no one suggest a blue and white ad in the Herald Sun or a cheaply made radio commercial!
