I'll put my real name to this comment as it's only fair seeing I'm discussing real people.

In an extraordianry plea for sympathy, Northern Bullants General Manager Garry O'Sullivan has gone public with a self-indulgence usually only reserved for those 'privileged' enough to get a private hearing with 'GO'.

The article by Brittany Shanahan [see link above] appeared in a recent edition of Inside Football in what appears to a concerted effort to repair the damage to O'Sullivan's reputation as he headlines a campaign to re-name the Northern Bullants the Northern Blues.

What amazes me about O'Sullivan's comments is that he says that it is hard to get volunteers. Well lets just go back in time, It's Monday the 27th July 2009 and I recieve a phone call from Garry O'Sullivan he is angry that club supporters have organised a metting to discuss an article that appeared in the Preston Leader suggesting that the club is looking to become the Northern Blues. O'Sullivan believes it's my fault this meeting is happening and finishes the conversation with 'it's a free country and you can have a meeting but Andrew don't ruin what we have worked so hard for'. I didn't even ask him what the last bit meant but now it's clear don't try and ruin what we have going with Carlton.

Fast forward to Friday 31st of July 2009 and another call from O'Sullivan. This time it is to inform me that I am banned from volunteering at the club and that I should stay away for my own safty! My crime was discussed and believe that we should retain our name and jumper and should reject the proposal to become the Nordthern Blues.

In no way I am having a go at the young journalist who wrote the article above. My experience is that the club has lost many supporters and volunteers in this fashion. And of course Carlton supporters by and large don't have the zest to volunteer there services, so the club is forced to pay people to work on match day or O'Sullivan is forced to work on the BBQ or gate.

Shanahnan says "Venturing down to a Bullants game, it’s easy to see why O’Sullivan has become the most respected and well-liked bloke not just at the Bullants". As a general rule Garry isn't the worst bloke in the world but he has played a big part in trying to kill the Northern Bullants to benefit himself and that's what I and many other supporters of the Bullants will judge O'Sullivan by.
